Look for a folder called pre-install or look in the /system/usr directory. Many ROM run a pre-install script on boot to install APPs. BobHi finless, first your help is truly appreciated, but I have a few questions for you and other friends on this forum. I managed to unpack the factory firmware of the jynxbox m6.img extension using WINRAR and the I looked in the pre-install folder and I deleted the apks that I dont want, and I put the new kodi 14 apk file there, and I packed the files together using winzip and then I singned the.zip file, but my questions are: A) if I use a.zip to.img converter tool and flash the box again, would that be ok or it will brick the box?
B) which files should I edit to modify the layout and the app links that each button belongs of the stock launcher in the jynxbox m6 stock ROM?? I believe jynxbox m6 uses a default launcher called metro launcher if I am righ??. I would like to play with default launcher layout and Change how it looks instead of installing a new launcher and make it a default launcher. I like to do this for practice only.

Just rename.img to.zip and you can open in with 7zip. Now I am not going to explain the entire edify script thing for how it installs. But if you have basic script type knowledge you will see it and be able to edit it. FYI just removing APPs and adding APPs to /system/app or /system/priv-app you do not need to edit the script.
Only if your adding special files that need special permissions do you need to know that. All ZIP installers the script in in the zip file in /META-INF/com/google/android and it is called updater-script.
You need to open this is a good text editor (not windows note pad). I like to use Editpad Lite in Windows. In Linux your fine with build in editor. All you have to do it put the good one into the ROM you have flashed. You do not need to reflash. Using ES File Explorer you can copy the file. Just make sure to set permissions on the file the same.
